Customizing themes and fonts is essential in my coding environment. The default themes installed with Xcode 4 are a bit, let’s say, shabby.
Your code doesn’t have to look so sour. I’ve collected a list of Xcode themes and fonts that you can install.
All themes listed below can be downloaded on GitHub. To install the themes, copy them to the Xcode’s
FontAndColorThemes folder (
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/UserData/FontAndColorThemes/) and restart Xcode.
One of the few light themes that made the list.
Inspired by the famous Railscast TextMate theme.
Available for all kind of editors on GitHub.
Nice dark variant.
My absolute favorite!
Bitstream Vera Sans (download)
Consolas (instructions to download on Mac)
Courier Prime (download)
Thanks for the tip Damian Carrillo.
Droid Sans Mono (download)
My favorite. Shipped with Mac OS.
Xcode does not offer any line height options. It’s one of the reasons I use Meslo, a great alternative for Menlo. It comes in three ‘line-height’ sizes (S, M, L).
Great font, also shipped with Mac OS.
Panic Sans (install instructions)
Provided with Coda.
Source Code Pro (download)
Adobe’s open source font. Recommended!
Ubuntu Mono (install instructions)
